Over the last few years, we’ve been ghostwriting for a handful of CEOs on LinkedIn as part of their CEO personal branding and digital marketing strategy. These content rules have generated over 15,000 reactions and thousands of profile visits.
1.Write a killer headline:
LinkedIn gives you 210 characters to grab attention. Your goal is to get people to click ‘see more.’ Headlines should promise a big outcome for a small cost. When executives share something valuable in under 210 characters, people listen.
2.Don’t use formal language:
Most people read at a 14-year-old level. Simpler language helps with engagement and is key for your digital marketing strategy. If people struggle to understand, they won’t stick around.
3.Talk about the outcome first:
Everyone wants results now. Lead with the outcome, then explain how you got there. A good digital marketing strategist knows that selling the dream first locks in attention.
4.Write for one person:
Speak directly to CEOs and founders. Writing for one person makes the content feel personal, which is essential for effective personal branding and helps build meaningful connections, aiding in lead generation.
5.Teach, don’t sell:
Our approach at K&J Growth is to teach, not sell. Educating your audience builds trust and boosts engagement, which is crucial in building your CEO personal branding.
6.Organize information:
91% of people consume social media on their phones. Break up content into digestible pieces to make it easier to read. This structure enhances the user experience and strengthens your digital marketing strategy.
Remember, content is a game.
Most people who want to build a profile don’t want to be seen as another “XYZ.” So they share content “their way.” Try some of the rules above and see what happens.
Notes: CEOs of bigger businesses already have clout, but you can go from no one to someone by writing content like this.
Rui used to share posts like this:
He followed some of the rules I shared above and in his next post he increased his engagement by over 2000% (post here):
Just the other day, he went viral, and it’s because he just kept testing.
His business has more demand than he can meet.
Keep testing these things, and you’ll find a formula that works
